A WEST SIDE STORY

by: Leonard Bernstein

2001 was a year of aggressive change on and off the field.   For the first time the "Golden Warrior" Band took on it's most challenging schedule and U.I.L. show.  The band dropped Monday night rehearsals for daily after school rehearsals in addition to splitting into two seperate performing units.

It was a year in which the band streched its wings and received straight 1's at UIL Region Marching.  In addition, the band recieved straight 1's in class 3A at the Mesquite Marching Festival; as well as the band recieving runner-up and top drumline at the DeSoto Marching Festival.  The drumline and colorguard competed at the 3rd Annual Crowley Drumline Competition; the colorguard won its class and the drumline won top front ensemble.
