The year 1999 marked a climax for the AHS Marching Band. In addition to receiving new uniforms, the band underwent a complete change. It was a year for celebration as the band blossomed during the fall. Everyone was excited about the season as they strove toward excellence. The pieces that the marching band played this year were diverse yet fitting for this group of performers. The show was entitled "Celebration Suite." It consisted of the majestic opener, "Emperata Overture," the ballad "Twilight Rhapsody," and the powerful closer "Resounding Joy." It was a year in which the band streched its wings and received straight 1's at UIL. The band concluded its season at the Sam Houston State Marching Festival with a soaking First division performance. In addition, the band recieved top drumline honors in class at the Mesquite Marching Festival and the Desoto Festival; as well as the colorguard recieving a div.1 at individual competition at the Desoto Festival. The drumline competed at the 1st Annual Crowley Drumline Competition and won "Best Snare Line" and finished second overall.
